Friends of Casey House gathered to say goodbye to our first home at a 9 Huntley farewell gathering.

Clients, former and current board members, current and former staff members, volunteers and members of the AIDS service organization and LGBTQ communities gathered earlier this month to formally recognize the closing of Casey House’s first home at 9 Huntley St.

After readings, a smudging ceremony and remarks by Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam, Metropolitan Community Church spokespeople and Casey House CEO Joanne Simons, guests were invited to tour the building, sign books of remembrance, and revisit photos and quilts.

A ceremonial lighting of the final candle in the window was followed by a client-led procession walking the first Casey House memorial quilt from 9 Huntley to Casey House’s new home across the street at 119 Isabella.
