With community spread of COVID-19 Casey House wants people in the safest place and for most people, home is the safest place. While the inpatient unit continues to operate, the hospital is closed to everyone except inpatient clients and staff.
We will continue to support day health clients by phone and by distributing food to clients’ homes wherever possible. Staff members are on site to attend to clients in crisis and help direct them to appropriate services.
If you are a day health program client, call 416-962-7600 to arrange food delivery, seek support, or to arrange for regular check-ins.
Casey House launched a ground breaking day health program in 2017, addressing gaps in care of HIV/AIDS clients. The day health program expands our continuum of health services and provides one-stop care and treatment for individuals affected by HIV/AIDS by bringing clinical services, community programs, and the clients who will benefit from them, together.
The day health program is a time limited, goal focused program that is working to serve community based clients with complex illnesses and fragile health who could engage with, and benefit from, the services of an inter-professional team. In collaboration with the client, health goals are set and integrated plans are developed. Significant outcomes for the day health program will be connecting clients to health and psychosocial resources, improving quality of life, identifying and intervening with emerging health issues and decreasing utilization of emergency and acute care resources. This could include access to nurses, social, mental health and substance use workers, physiotherapists, case managers, recreation therapists and massage therapists.
Our day health program focuses on reducing isolation and improving overall health with inclusivity and unequivocal compassion.
Current day health program activities are outlined in the monthly calendar:
