This educational series is for health care and support service providers caring for people living with, at risk for and affected by, HIV

Speaker: Yasmeen Persad is the coordinator for the Trans Women and HIV Research Initiative (TWIRI) at Women’s College Hospital. Originally from the Caribbean, she has been sharing knowledge and helping to build capacity around LGBTT & Trans community inclusion and support to front-line workers, for the past 8 years.

Yasmeen works at The 519 in the education and training department as a facilitator delivering workshops on trans issues. Her experience ranges from working with trans youth, HIV positive women, sex workers and many other diverse populations. She is a longtime community activist and has presented at many universities across North America. She has been part of ground-breaking recognition of trans women as women in the Violence Against Women sector.
