In honour of #GivingTuesday, Casey House is celebrating giving, and thanking donors for helping us reduce isolation.
Rodney has lived with HIV for more than 35 years and has multiple health challenges, but it wasn’t until he had a stroke that he needed Casey House.
He describes the stigma he’s faced as ‘devastating’. Since having his stroke people gawk, “even within the [gay] community people stare and judge,” says Rodney. Without family or friends in Toronto he had become isolated, and lonely.
At Casey House, Rodney receives medical care and monitoring from a community nurse. He participates in recreational activities, such as healthy cooking and the cognitive memory group, and gets massages which improve his mobility for a few days at a time.
Donations to Casey House Foundation support the healthy cooking program, which teaches practical skills and brings people together while providing a healthy wholesome hot meal, plus leftovers. Join our community of donors and reduce isolation for people like Rodney.
HIV is only part of the story.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that happens after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Canadians, charities and businesses come together to celebrate giving and participate in activities that support charities and non-profits.
