Casey House is pleased to announce two appointments to the executive team: Dr. Malika Sharma to medical director; and Mark Trask to chief marketing and development officer.

Medical Director
Dr. Malika Sharma completed her MD at McMaster University in 2007 followed by her residency in internal medicine and adult infectious diseases at the University of Toronto (U of T) from 2007-2014.  She then completed the Clinician Educator Training Program, the Clinician Investigator Program, and a research fellowship at the Wilson Centre for Research in Education while completing her Masters in Education (Health Professions Education) at the Ontario Institute for Studies In Education (OISE) in 2016.

Malika has worked at Markham Stouffville Hospital, St. Michael’s Hospital and the University Health Network as an infectious diseases/HIV consultant and is currently a clinician at Hassle Free Clinic, an HIV consultant at Maple Leaf Medical Clinic and Regent Park Community Health Centre, and a clinical associate in infectious diseases at St. Michael’s Hospital.

She is an active education researcher, and is currently a Canadian HIV Trials Network/Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research post-doctoral fellow. She is co-investigator on research grants in a variety of areas, including curriculum for medical education to support compassionate, person-centred care.

Malika has extensive knowledge of HIV/AIDS and experience working with patient complexity, as well as community based experience working with vulnerable clients.

Malika’s first day will be December 4, 2017.

Chief Marketing and Development Officer
Mark Trask joins Casey House with extensive and balanced experience in fund development and marketing and communications.  Most recently, Mark worked for Artsmarketing Services Inc. as vice-president, marketing and sales partnering with non-profit organizations to strategize, develop and execute marketing campaigns to engage stakeholders, and leading the business development team.

Prior, Mark worked as chief, membership and annual giving for the National Gallery of Canada Foundation, as an independent consultant in the not-for-profit arts sector, and as director of marketing and development for Opera Lyra Ottawa.

In addition, Mark has taught fundraising courses at the University of Ottawa and is the vice-president of professional advancement for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Toronto.

Mark will join us for a few days in November and December, and will start full-time January 8, 2018.
