Volunteer Program Statement of Philosophy

The Casey House Volunteer Program is a recognized, integral part of the Casey House interprofessional health care team. Input from volunteers is respected and encouraged. The Volunteer Program is committed to providing hospice care to all in need, regardless of gender, race, culture, religion or sexual orientation, within the philosophy of hospice care, and respecting the needs and wishes of the person in care and their community. The Volunteer Program is committed to improving the quality of life of people with HIV/AIDS in all settings.

Volunteer Program Code of Conduct:

  • Be honest with yourself about the time and energy you have available for this commitment
  • Honour all your commitments to the Hospice and the residents
  • Respect the need for confidentiality in your contacts with residents, families, volunteers and staff
  • Provide care and service that supports the self-determination of the resident and supplements his or her support network
  • Contribute constructively to the efforts of the interprofessional health care team
  • Meet the attendance criteria of your volunteer team
  • Be an ambassador for Casey House to the community
