Support Care Volunteer, Casey House Hospice
Minimum Time Commitment: 6 months
Duties include assisting staff on the 2nd floor (the residents' floor), accompanying residents to appointments, assisting with meal distribution, visiting with residents and cleaning up after meals (depending on shift time).
Appointment Volunteer, Casey House Hospice
Minimum Time Commitment: 6 months
This volunteer would be “on call” and would be called when a resident needs accompaniment to an appointment, i.e. with their doctor or at the hospital, usually St. Michael’s hospital, always within the GTA. The volunteer would take instructions from the resident’s nurse and be responsible for health cards and appointment information if necessary. Typically taxis are used for all appointments which are paid for by Casey House. Excellent English is required.
Reception Volunteer, Casey House Hospice
Minimum time commitment: 4 months
Reception volunteers work once or twice a month from 2-4pm, weekends only, maintaining the Casey House front space, greeting & directing visitors, managing the switchboard and monitoring traffic. Excellent English is required.
Recreation Volunteers, Casey House Hospice
Minimum time commitment: 1 year
Recreation volunteers assist with organizing resident visits and outings, and organize small events in the hospice for residents.
Foundation Volunteers, Casey House Foundation (119 Isabella Street)
Minimum time commitment: 4 months
Foundation volunteers assist with stuffing envelopes, preparing mailings, calling donors and some typing and filing. An experienced researcher is also required. (Researcher should ideally have an undergraduate degree in business or commerce). Excellent English is required.
Special Events Volunteers
