Casey House accepts volunteer applications throughout the year.

with the Volunteer Coordinator. To become a volunteer at Casey House,
potential applicants must meet the time commitment requirements,
possess the skills necessary and agree with the mission, philosophy and

- Is there a lot of paperwork involved?
All new volunteers of Casey House must sign and agree to an Oath of
Confidentiality, which protects the privacy of its clients, staff and
volunteers. Also, all volunteers who work directly with clients must
complete a Police Record check (more information below).
- How do I get a Police Record Check?
Prior to placement, the volunteer must complete and sign a “Consent to
Disclosure of Personal Information”. The Coordinator of Volunteer
Programming can assist with this process. This is a completely
confidential process. Only the Coordinator of Volunteer Programming
has this information and will only share it with the Executive Director
if an issue arises. When the Toronto Police Service has completed the
search and no information has been found pursuant to the Toronto Police
Reference Check Program, a copy of the consent form is received with an
appropriate stamp affixed to it. If the applicant has information on
file pursuant to the program, the Toronto Police Service will send a
summary sheet to the applicant. The Toronto Police Service will also
send a letter to Casey House advising that the applicant has been sent
a summary. Casey House only looks for convictions that relate directly
to a person’s ability to safely care for clients (i.e. assault) or
related to fraud. A conviction does not necessarily mean you may be
precluded from doing your volunteer work.
