THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR PASSION AT CASEY HOUSE'S 20TH ANNIVERSARY!
A little naughty, a little daring and like winter in Toronto, totally unpredictable!
Casey House's SnowBall 2008 | Passion
On March 1, 2008, Casey House’s SnowBall 2008 | Passion ignited The Fairmont Royal York with a night of passionate revelry in support of Casey House. Honourary Co-Chairs Salah Bachir & Valerie Pringle, Co-Chairs Michael Griffiths & George Chaker, 20th Anniversary Chair Pearse Murray and Entertainment Chair Molly Johnson welcomed a crowd of over 700 supporters to mark the 20th Anniversary of Casey House and pay tribute to the late June Callwood, the founder of Casey House.
Revellers first mingled in the Ontario Room of the Fairmont Royal York, keeping tabs on the lavish silent auction items and networking with the assembled cast of party goers while listening to the piano stylings of crooner John Alcorn.

The doors to the Canadian Room were then thrown open to reveal the astonishing décor by renowned designer Nicholas Pinney, who in the spirit of passion had dressed the room in red, with red feather boa topiaries atop red draped tables stretching as far as the eye could see. Rex Harrington launched the evening’s tango theme with a sensual dance performance and after some brief words of welcome, chanteuse Molly Johnson, who orchestrated the night’s entertainment line up, performed a moving a cappella rendition of Streets of Philadelphia. Guests then enjoyed the sumptuous food provided by the Fairmont Royal York while listening to a program of tango music by the Royal Conservatory Orchestra. Bona fide soprano diva Isabel Bayrakdarian took the stage after dessert, performing tango selections from her most recent album, and finally international singing superstar Billy Newton-Davis leapt onstage with some smoking hot dancers to ensure that all felt the love as party-goers jammed the dance floor.

The evening also included a lavish silent auction, and the inaugural presentation of The Casey Awards, a new annual awards program created in loving memory of June Callwood. (Read more about the awards.)
For the fifth year, Casey House’s SnowBall presented a fabulous opportunity to let loose, mix and mingle with Toronto’s most influential in the worlds of art, media, politics and business. But above all, SnowBall is a yearly occasion to celebrate and support the love and passion that goes into the work done at Casey House in caring for people affected by HIV/AIDS. It is a testament to the passion of the Toronto community for Casey House and its programs that event tickets were sold out a full month in advance.
