TD Waterhouse presents Art with Heart November 3, 2009:
Highest attendance to date raises over $400,000 for Casey House community programs!
Over $400,000 (net) was generated for Casey House community programs on November 3, as TD Waterhouse presented Art with Heart, an auction of contemporary Canadian art.
Nearly 900 patrons were in attendance at the Carlu, with total art sales at $411,000, or 36 per cent over book value. Top bid of the night was for a work by Edward Burtynsky, at $19,000. Other established artists in the 85-work collection included James Lahey, Michael Awad, Kent Monkman, Shelley Adler, Katie Pretti, Harold Town, Micah Lexier and Ed Pien. The collection also included a surprise addition by Yoko Ono.
Several works by emerging artists attracted energetic bidding, a testament to the skilled selections made by the Curatorial Committee, helmed by Bill Clarke and Ann MacDonald. The AGO’s Matthew Teitelbaum was in attendance as Honourary Chair of the event, with Mark Robert, Robert Mitchell and Bruce Lawson as event Co-Chairs.

“We are so grateful to TD Waterhouse and our other sponsors, as well as the Canadian art community and our patrons,” said event Co-Chair and Chair of the Casey House Board of Directors Bruce Lawson. “Your support enables Casey House to continue providing compassionate care for people in our community who are living with HIV/AIDS.”
