TD WATERHOUSE PRESENTS ART WITH HEART OCTOBER 28, 2008:
OVER $400,000 RAISED FOR CASEY HOUSE COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

On October 28, 2008, TD Waterhouse presented Art with Heart 2008, an annual auction of leading Canadian contemporary art raising funds for Casey House, Canada’s first HIV/AIDS specialty hospital. The evening netted over $400,000 for Casey House community programs.

Thanks to the generosity of the sponsors of Art with Heart as well as the members of the Artists Patrons’ Club, 100 percent of the money raised during the evening through ticket sales, donations and art purchases will go directly to Casey House community programs, including the Home Hospice Program, Women’s Clinics, the Mobile Health Bus, the Resident Care and Comfort Fund and the Child Care Fund.

The highest bid of the night was $21,000, for Edward Burtynsky’s Carrara Marble Quarries #12. Seventy-seven original works of art were sold, as well as two limited editions. A few prints remain of the Gallery of Patrons Limited Edition by Attila Richard Lukacs entitled King of Overstanding, and may be purchased online at www.artwithheart.ca, where the full collection may still be viewed.

The auction was once again held at The Carlu, with free previews the week before at Ritchies Auctioneers. Over its 15-year history, Art with Heart has grown to become one of Canada’s premier auctions of contemporary art, having raised nearly $3.5 million over the years. Once again, Casey House is deeply indebted to the many sponsors, patrons, galleries, artists and volunteers who made the evening’s success possible.
