HIV and Aging – Promising Practices and Practical Resources for HIV Care across the Continuum

Please join us at this inter-disciplinary, inter-agency event that will profile promising practices and practical resources in the care and treatment of people living and aging with HIV.
Part I: 9 am – 12 noon – Presentations and Panel Discussion
A panel of researchers, representatives at local and national organizations and individuals living with HIV will be sharing their work related to HIV and aging. Presenters include: Dr. Charles A. Emlet (University of Washington), Charles Furlotte ( McMaster University), Gerard Yetman (AIDS Committee of Newfoundland and Labrador), Kate Murzin (CWGHR) and Ron Rosenes, Maureen Mahan (Casey House) and Kenneth Poon. The session will be moderated by Francisco Ibanez-Carrasco (Ontario HIV Treatment Network).

Part II: 12 noon – 1pm – HIV & Long Term Care Video Screening
Rod Cartagena, the Executive Director of a long-term care facility in Toronto, will share his experiences in the development and dissemination of an HIV and long term care video series designed to increase knowledge, awareness and comfort of long-term care staff providing care to people living with HIV. Excerpts of the videos will be shown and information will be provided on access to the resources. Maureen Mahan (Casey House) and Kenneth Poon, collaborators on the project, will be available for discussion.
